The 29th Annual Charlestown Winter Carnival has arrived! The festivities begin on Saturday, January 21st at 10am with Snow Golf at Patch Park players are asked to bring their own clubs, balls and a challenging course will be provided, hot chocolate and goodies to keep everyone warm will be available. The Charlestown Middle School with the Recreation Dept vs. Police/Fire Dept Basketball Game. The event begins at 5:00PM. Admittance is $3 for adults; free for those under 18. All youth basketball players are asked to arrive in uniform for a short presentation before the game. There will be a concession stand available, a 50/50 raffle, a half court shot contest, and door prizes. Prizes include season’s passes to the town swimming pool and free sign-ups for recreation programs. The Charlestown Rec. dept is proud to announce a raffle for a Super Bowl Barbeque Give away. With donations from area businesses, a large gas grill and all the fixings go to the winner for their Super Bowl
party.
On Sunday, January 22, the Middle School again plays host – this time to Candy Bar Bingo in the downstairs lunch room. Your entry to play: a regular size candy bar. Drop-in Volleyball will be happening upstairs in the gym. Pick-up games will allow everyone an opportunity to play, so bring your friends and show off your skills. All games begin at 1:00PM
Activities resume on Thursday, January 26th with the Charlestown Rotary Club is hosting a Family Movie Night at the Old Town Hall from 6:00-8:00PM. Join us for popcorn and make-your-own ice cream sundaes!
Roller Skating at the Middle School gym from 6:00-9:00PM on Friday, the 27th will take us into the weekend. A $6.00 entry fee at the door gets you in to enjoy this night of fun.
Saturday, January 28th, is a day filled with events! Adult Broom Hockey will be held at a new venue this year – in the center of town at the Swan Common (basketball courts). Registration begins at 8:00AM; games begin at 9:00AM. Registration forms are available online at the town web site: www.charlestown-nh.gov Entry fee is $50.00 per team. Beginning at noon, the parking area of Swan Common will play host to the 2nd Annual Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off. Just $5.00 for all-you-can-eat chili samples and an opportunity to cast your vote. Help choose the winner! There will also be Horse Drawn Wagon Rides to take you from the Primary School parking area to the ice rink, as well as tours about town. Saturday’s festivities wrap up with the Snow Ball Dance at the VFW from 8:00-12:00PM. This is a BYOB and Over21 event. There will be a DJ and dance floor – so be ready to get down and have a good time!

Events on Sunday, January 29th begin at 8:00AM with a Winter Carnival Breakfast – hosted by the Lions Club. Join us at the Old Town Hall; breakfast is served until 10:30AM. Join us for pancakes & sausage $7 gets you a good morning meal, $4 for those 10 and under, then head back to the ice at Swan Common for the Youth Broom Hockey Tournament at 11:00AM. No entry fee for this event that is open to kids K thru 8th grade. Get your friends together and enter your team! Finishing out the schedule of events is a Cribbage Tournament with the location and details TBA….
